Ahiska Turks , Washington State leading secondary settlement location

Being without Belonging... no more.

Research showed that starting with a few hundred families relocated to the Seattle, Washington metropolitan area in 2012 revealed that this small community facing a challenge, comprised of legal refugees, was entitled to six months of financial support, initial housing, English language classes, and a progressive opportunity to obtain citizenship after five years of residency.

These social services challenge mark a significant advancement in the social and political integration of the Ahıska Turks.

The United States offered one of the most stable environments for this group since their displacement in 1944, suggesting they are likely to remain in the country, particularly in the Seattle area.

Washington State is among the top five in the nation for refugee numbers per capita, and the Seattle area hosts a substantial population of immigrants and refugees, along with services catering to these groups.

The research referenced in this summary received the Institutional Review Board's approval at the Author's University. According to a 2004 Brookings Institution report, Seattle was ranked fifth among cities for refugee intake and recognized as a new destination for refugees and immigrants.

Seattle, WA is also a leading secondary settlement location, where refugees and immigrants relocate to Seattle after initially residing elsewhere in the U.S. The Ahiska Turks met the challenge and continue to work together to succeed.
